Comics to Movies: The Infinity Wars

(DISCLAIMER: The feature photo in the title on the cover of “The Infinity War” series issue 1 and the following article spoils “The Infinity Gauntlet” storyline but may or may not spoil the third Avengers movie…most likely not)

Comics to Movies: The Infinity War
By Christoper Johnson

For this blog I will give my take on “Avengers: Infinity War”, now there have been several comic events with the name “Infinity” thrown in there somewhere with one even calling itself “Infinity War” and most have involved Thanos in some way but for the sake of simplicity I will base my thoughts off of “Infinity Gauntlet” and take elements of other stories and incorporate them into it. I choose “Infinity Gauntlet” for a couple reasons. First off it is the one I am most familiar with there for it will be easier for me to translate and second of all most of the main characters are owned by Marvel thus can properly be used. Now I will take a bit from each story and explain each story as I get to it but this will be by discussing two main points. The characters/ elements from each story and of course the plot. With no more hesitation let us discuss the players in this this movie.
As you may know “Avengers:Infinity War” will be divided in two parts. As such the character section will be divided into three parts. Main characters in part 1, part 2 and main characters in both parts (Some people I think will be main characters in one part but not the other could appear in the other part just have a minor role)
Part 1:
1, 2, 3. Hulk, Luke Cage and Spider-Man- They will be apart of the distraction team that fails and they die. They are resurrected in part 2 but do not serve any major purpose
4. 5. 6. 7. 8.- Black Widow, Vision, Quick Silver, Scarlet Witch and War Machine will be a part of the main attack squad in part one. They return ti fight in part 2 but play a more minor role.
Part 2:
1, 2, 3, & 4: Captain America, Thor, Iron Man and Hawkeye- Are all revived from the disruption blast and join in the fight to retrieve the gauntlet.
1, 2 & 3: Captain Marvel, Black Bolt and the Guardians of the Galaxy: They receive a distress signal from Worlock and join the fight in part 2.

Both:
1. Thanos- Will be the main villain in the first part and in the second part he will still be fighting to try to regain the gauntlet
2. Nebula- In the first part she will side with Thanos but will betray him and in the second part she is the main villain where her inexperience gets the best of her
3. Dr. Strange- He will gather together a new league of avengers to fight Thanos and in Part 2 he will assist Adam Worlock into disrupting Nebula’s infinity gauntlet.
4. Adam Worlock- Could be viewed as the main hero of both parts He will be apart of the main attack squad in Part 1, join the fight in part 2 and will create “The Infinity Watch” group.
5. Black Panther- With no avengers left besides Black Widow and Hulk, Black Panther takes charge in part 1 and will still play a main part in strategy and will be given charge over one gem
6. The Black Hand- They are the henchmen of Thanos in the “Infinity” story line. I believe they will be used to fight the avengers alongside Thanos.
Now that you know the characters who I think will be in the movie and the role I think they will play I will explain everything above and how I think part 1 and part 2 will play out. Part one will start off with Thanos trying to gain the affection of “Lady Death” by showing her how powerful he is and uses the infinity gauntlet to destroy half the population on Earth, including many heroes such as Iron Man, Thor, Hawkeye and a few others. Meanwhile Adam Worlock travels to Dr. Strange and warns him of the massive power that has been set loose. Strange then assembles the few heroes left to create the “new” Avengers. This includes Black Panther, War Machine, Spider Man, Luke Cage, Hulk, Black Widow, Quicksilver, Scarlet Witch and Vision. Then as they prepare to head into space to fight Thanos Doctor Strange casts a spell that allows everyone to breathe while in space. Once they arrived they are met by Thanos, The Black Hand and Thanos’ daughter Nebula. Black Panther is in charge of making the decisions so he instructs Hulk, Spider Man and Luke Cage to act as a distraction so the rest can rush Thanos but the plan fails with the result of Hulk, Spider Man and Luke Cage dying. Thanos then becomes enraged because Lady Death sees Thanos as her superior and refuses to accept his affection. Thanos then unleashes the full power and projects his astral form into a large cosmic monster leaving his body defenseless but the movie ends. Part 2 starts off with a menacing looking Thanos monster looming over a group of fallen and broken heroes. Suddenly Black Bolt, the guardians and Captain Marvel will join but then Nebula grabs the gauntlet off of the hand of Thanos’ lifeless body. Nebula has trouble controlling all the power unlike Thanos did. This gives off a powerful energy blast that revives all dead people including the heroes. They join the fight Then Worlock notices how unstable Nebula is and gets an idea for him and strange to travel into the soul gem and disrupt the gauntlet. (This is possible because Worlock is from the reality of the soul gem) All the heroes fight a weakened Thanos and the black hand and while in the other reality Worlock manages to either disable the soul and damages enough to remove it. Nebula loses her power and the fight for the gauntlet begins. Worlock returns and manages to obtain the gauntlet then Strange teleports away. Worlock decides to create “The Infinity Watch” a secret group consisting of Himself, Dr. Strange, Black Panther, Steve Rogers, Tony Stark, Black Bolt and either Hank Pym or Starlord. In this group each member is given a stone to keep safe while Worlock keeps the gauntlet safe. Movie end.
In conclusion, I am most likely very wrong but I wanted to get my thoughts out there early before we learned anything about this movie. Everything I said is a mixture of several comic titles but the main basis is from “The Infinity Gauntlet. My next article will be the monthly series called “Month’s End” where I talk about the comics that were released in March.
